                                                                     BIO
Stefan Girardet studied at the Guildhall School of Music where he received a first-class Bachelor's degree and the "Dove Memorial Prize" given to a student of exceptional talent. He subsequently earned a Masters in Composition at Cambridge University. In addition to making his own albums (links on home page), Stefan has written music for several high profile film and TV projects, including “The Confessional” (1996 – prod. David Puttnam), which won four Genie awards, “The Animal Room” (1997), and the Lions Gate Production “Spanish Fly”. More recent work includes “Commute” (2002), “Mina And The Family Treasure” (2003) –exec prod. Rosie O’Donnell-,  “American Reunion” (2004), "Devil Girl" (2006), "Lonely Street" (2008), "Donner Pass" (2011), "Weight" - First Run Features (2016) and many others.

TV work includes the BBC prime time series ”Keeping Mum”, the ITV drama “Johnny and The Dead”, as well as “The Fictional World of Bret Easton Ellis”, and “The Fundamental Gilbert and George” which won the British Academy Award for best feature documentary. The film was praised in the Academy’s citation for its “Unique blend of image and music”. In 2008 Stefan Scored "Bear's Mission Everest", a Bear Grylls special which was the Discovery Channel's most watched show ever. That same year Stefan worked with Danny Seraphine from the band “Chicago” and Steve Porcaro (“Toto”) on songs for the movie “Lonely Street” starring Jay Mohr and Joe Mantegna. In 2011 Stefan scored the horror film "Donner Pass" (Showtime Networks).

Records include soundtrack albums for “The Confessional” (MCA), “Johnny and The Dead” (BMG), and the “We Love You” album (Candy Records), for which Stefan teamed with the artists Gilbert and George on a joint work “Bloodlines”, described by Time Out magazine as “The sexiest slice of art ever” and “A work of Existential greatness” by Tate magazine. In addition to his soundtrack work, Stefan occasionally collaborates with other recording artists, including MANSUN, for whom Stefan arranged and conducted two orchestral songs for their number one album “The Attack of the Grey Lantern” (Capitol Records) and SUPERIOR for whom Stefan arranged and conducted “Polaroid Millennium” for the film and album ”The Saint” (Virgin). Stefan has also co-written and recorded with the Grammy nominated artist Alison Goldfrapp, and Adrian Utley from Mercury Music Prize winners Portishead.

In November 2016 The Notre Dame Chorale in South Bend Indiana premiered Stefan's choral work "Lux Aeterna". This was followed in April 2017 by the premier of a piece for choir and strings specially commissioned by Notre Dame, a setting of (a portion of) Lucretius' "De Rerum Natura". The performance was broadcast on PBS.
